7 Days Masai Mara Migration Special Safari

0700hrs, after the tour briefing, you will depart for Amboseli National park. The drive can be through the Namanga at the Kenya- Tanzania border to Amboseli National Park or through Mombasa Road. Either route will give you a short game drive en route to your lodge for lunch.

Dinner and overnight at Amboseli Ol Tukai Lodge.

0600hrs, start with an early morning game drive in the Amboseli National Park. You will return to the lodge at 0830hrs for late breakfast. Later spend the rest of the morning at leisure. Enjoy Amboseli Swimming pool or do an optional Nature walk at a small fee. At 1600hrs, you will have an afternoon game drive till dusk.

Amboseli sits on the lower slopes of mighty Mount Kilimanjaro – Africa’s highest – whose peak lies across the border in Tanzania. It is quite an experience to see Kilimanjaro hovering above the clouds in an early morning. The animal pictures arising against the dramatic backdrop of the mountain will thrill the photography enthusiast. Amboseli is renowned for its huge elephant herds. Other residents of the Amboseli include: buffalo,  zebra, wildebeest and other plain animals.

0700 Hrs. Check out and drive to Lake Nakuru National park. En route, you will have a stop for some hot lunch before proceeding to the park. You will have an evening game drive in Lake Nakuru National park for game drive until sunset when you will check in at your lodge for the night.

Lake Nakuru’s claim to fame is anchored on its flamingo’s and the over 400 species of birds found here. The lake itself is a soda lake on the floor of the rift valley. The sight of the at times millions of flamingos is quite spectacular. From a distance the lake appears ringed in pink. The Lake has also earned a reputation as an important haven for endangered species – particularly the Rothschild Giraffe and the black and white rhino. Lions, waterbuck, buffalo and baboons are all residents here.

You will start of with a morning game drive in Lake Nakuru before driving through the Great Rift Valley ridge of Mau summit to arrive at Maasai Mara in time for an afternoon game drive en route to your overnight camp. You will packed lunch boxes en route to Mara.

The Mara offers wildlife in such variety and abundance that it is difficult to believe: over 450 species of animals are recorded here. Some of the famous ones include lions, rhinos, hippos, crocodiles, giraffe, wildebeests, zebras, buffalo, warthogs, hyenas, jackals, wild dogs, buffalo, leopard, many kinds of antelopes and elephants.

It is in the Mara that perhaps the most spectacular event of the natural world takes place. This is the annual migration of millions of wildebeest and zebra from the Serengeti (Tanzania) in search of water and pasture. Following on their heels are the predators of the savanna- lion, cheetah, wild dog, jackal, hyena and vultures.

You will have two full days in Masai Mara with morning and evening game drive or an option of full day game viewing in greater Mara. The great migration experience can be spent all  day at the river side watching the migration or in the plains following the greatest show as predators have a field day.

Is seeing the Great Migration worth it?
The Great Migration takes place July, August and September. These months represent peak travel season for the Wildebeest Migration safari. The Migration happens in one of the most rich wildlife areas in the world. This makes the experience all that more rewarding since chances of seeing the predictors doing the hunt are almost guaranteed. The Migration of wildebeest is among the traveler bucket list items that all travelers dream of experiencing during our lifetime.

0730 Hrs- Check out and drive to Nairobi to arrive mid-day. On this day, a farewell lunch will be provided before transfer to your hotel or Airport for your onward travel or drop off to your hotel.
